A brightly coloured interior for a young couple of collectors

Brief

I was approached by a young couple. They wanted to update their interior, to make it more colourful and stylish, just like themselves. An important wish was to find a place for their growing collection of ceramics.

Creating this interior required a complete rethinking of the space. The task was complicated by the fact that the owners of the flat had already started renovating and bought some of the furniture themselves. So we had to play the new project around the current concept.

So in the living room, the wall from the Italian factory Besana became the ‘queen of the ball’. Its glossy geometric facades dictated the decision to decorate the room in the Pop Art style, which is characterised by optical illusions, graphics and cheerful shades.

The parquet of solid zebrano wood laid diagonally looks quite bold and changes the geometry of the space.

The low ceiling height in the living room made it difficult to choose lighting fixtures. LED cubes and a small metal soffit saved the day.
In a small living room, we managed to create two independent functional zones: for relaxation and work. Bright textiles create a cheerful mood. And the restrained colour scheme of the working area balances the mood of the room. The snow-white lamp on the desk looks like a stylish art object. It is made of thin metal and resembles a folded origami sheet.

The interior of the hallway was built around a panel and a black KARE sofa. It was these that gave us the idea to decorate the room in the art deco style. To finish the walls we used the technique of silvering with sheets of tile on a black background. The result was an unusual imitation of tiles, which effectively ‘play’ depending on the lighting.

The typical Art Deco tandem of black and silver was diluted with juicy shades of wild berries. The variety of matt and shiny textures makes the interior even more expressive.
In the bedroom, it was only necessary to choose textiles and stylish decorative items. The refreshing azure of the walls visually enlarged the small room. We emphasised this story with shades of blue and patterns. Thus, the bedroom was decorated with indigo-coloured textiles and an accent bedspread with Tiffany's embroidery by Aldeco. And white stencils of dandelions flying on the wall added charm and lightness to the room.

The room was not without adventure. An expressive painting with a dog by abstractionist Michelle Keck fit perfectly into the interior, but it was completely unsuitable in size. However, we managed to contact the artist via social media and she agreed to adjust the image to the right size.
Combining a variety of colours, textures and shapes into a single symphony, while harmoniously incorporating items dear to the owners' hearts into the interior - it worked like clockwork. We even managed to fulfil the most interesting wish of the owners - to create divisions on the wall imitating natural silk. Any task is possible if you take on it with joy and inspiration.
